I slipped the black jacket over my shoulders and went to the mirror to check my makeup. I was a little nervous but I didnt want to show it. Tonight was the big night, the night Id been waiting for for so long. I was going to a dance. I hadnt been out to a dance since I had finished university some years ago but tonight would be very different from then.

We hailed a taxi and as we got in I could see the driver looking us both over. We gave him the address for the dance and we drove on through the dark.
