When I opened the door at about ten minutes to four the next afternoon, I was immediately reminded of how different Mario and Paco were from one another. Mario was taller and thinner while Paco was shorter and more sturdily built, though both were very trim. I motioned them to come in and then remembered that they spoke little English while I spoke even less Spanish. Language was not needed once they were inside and seated on the sofa. I gave them each a beer, then brazenly settled down on the floor in front of them.

Then they reached the trivial, man-made intrusion in paradise that was Cronjes Camp. The unfenced Camp consisted of three traditional round huts, earth-floored and thatched, known as Rondavals. A thatched, open-sided kitchen held a large cast-iron range-stove that must have been transported by ox-wagon. As they emerged from the Land Rover, a medium-sized grey bird landed clumsily on the top of the tree above.

The week after we had dinner with my parents, my manager told me he wanted me to go to a weeklong conference in Chicago. It was a major compensation conference, and I was really excited about getting to go to it. What I wasnt excited about, at all, was being away from Art. When Roger and his parents toured the campus, the mixed sex dorms concerned them. But the individual showers complete with curtains seemed to address the concerned his parents had. To Davids fans, My name is Jeff and I am the author of "Davids Initiation." First let me say that Davids story will continue. After finishing Chapter , I find I need some time to decompress and share in Davids grief over loosing Paul. Im surprised to discover Chapter has had a greater impact on me than I ever anticipated and I need some time away from the story in order to gain a fresh perspective and energy to continue it.
